Linda Siminerio, RN, PhD, CDE, has built a career devoted to diabetes
research and education for > 30 years. She is director of the Diabetes
Institute at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pa., and she serves
on the faculty at the University's School of Medicine and
Nursing.
Dr. Siminerio has been an active volunteer and leader within the American Diabetes Association (ADA), for which she previously served as the national President, Health Care and Education. She has served on numerous ADA committees as well as on the organization's national board of directors. Internationally, she continues to help lead the effort to include diabetes education, nutrition, and psychosocial issues in all forums and discussions of diabetes care. She is senior vice president of the International Diabetes Federation and is the only American and the first diabetes educator to serve in that capacity. Dr. Siminerio has served as an investigator on numerous diabetes research studies and co-authored many diabetes publications. She has served as the editor of Diabetes Spectrum, an associate editor of Diabetes Care, and the first nonphysician editor of Diabetes Forecast magazine. She is the co-author of the ADA-published books Raising a Child With Diabetes and Diabetes Education Goals. Footnotes Martha M.
