Medha Munshi, MD, is director of the Geriatric Diabetes Clinic at the
Joslin Diabetes Center and director of the Outpatient Geriatric Program at the
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Mass. She is an instructor in
the Department of Medicine at the Harvard Medical
School.
Dr. Munshi received her medical degree from M.S. University in Baroda,
India, and completed her residency in internal medicine at the Ball Memorial
Hospital in Muncie, Ind. She completed fellowships in endocrinology and
metabolism and geriatric medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical
Sciences in Little Rock. Dr. Munshi was an assistant professor of medicine at
the Department of Geriatrics at the University of Arkansas before moving to
Boston in 2001.
Dr. Munshi's clinical interests include caring for elderly patients with
diabetes. Her research interests have focused on identifying barriers to
diabetes control in elderly patients and devising strategies to overcome these
barriers. Her research has been funded by a Junior Faculty Award from Hartford
Foundation and a trainee and feasibility grant from the Joslin Diabetes
Center's National Institutes of Health Diabetes and Endocrinology Research
Center.
