Barbara McCloskey, PharmD, BCPS, CDE, is manager of the Diabetes Center at the Baylor Medical Center in Irving, Texas. Her interest in diabetes education began at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1990, where she started that institution’s outpatient diabetes education classes. Since then, she has worked in diabetes education in various settings.
In addition to her work at Baylor, Dr. McCloskey began a monthly diabetes clinic at Mission Arlington, an indigent clinic in Arlington, Tex. She served on the National Certification Board of Diabetes Educators from 1997 to 2001 and now serves on the American Association of Diabetes Educators Nominating Committee.
